Today, I decided to check out an XFCE theme which is based on OneShot World Machine, only to be greeted by this error message here: This message (known as LGFL SchoolProtect) is what you see when you try to access a blocked website, either by LGFL or with a local list. This block wasn't issued recently, but rather a few months ago when LGFL blocked GitHub for being a gaming platform, which it isn't within itself. At the time of its block, GitHub pages with games were very popular, so it's no surprise that LGFL took action on it. Why this is a bad idea There are of course, several disadvantages to this block, but I'll name one: they blocked the wrong domain. To put it simply, these pages are hosted on an entirely different domain ( github.io ), which is GitHub's user page hosting domain. This specific domain however (for the most part) isn't blocked, and to further prove this, I pulled up my GitHub readme which is set up to run on GitHub pages: This is just more proof that even big companies screw up sometimes, but this is probably one of the biggest screw ups I've seen from a company focused on education - they literally can't tell the difference between .com and .io, and they should have done further research before going further. Hello all! I've recently had this question in my mind - "Is it possible to port OneShot to HTML5?" Well, I don't like to use the word "impossible", but I like to use the word "improbable". Allow me to explain: If you don't know what OneShot is, it's a game developed by Nightmargin, where you play as Niko, the main character, to save the world and send Niko home. I've had this question about porting OneShot to HTML5 for a while, and it seems somewhat improbable for two reasons: Next to no modding/open-source material for the game - OneShot's asset pack is available to the user in it's install location, including things like sprites, backgrounds, audio files and the main executable, which isn't protected whatsoever, which in itself could provide somewhat of a potential for HTML5, but there is next to no open-source material for the game outside of custom asset packs. No official support from Nightmargin - Nightmargin, or better yet DANGEN or FutureCat, hasn't officially released OneShot on HTML5, which makes my job an awful lot harder as there are now two paths I can take, these being: Recreate the entire game from the ground up Somehow run a Windows container within HTML5 (if that's even a thing) It is still possible that OneShot can be ported to HTML5, but it's somewhat impractical and improbable as it would take a stupidly long time to do so. Like I said above, OneShot has no open-source material outside of asset packs, and it runs on a proprietary game engine, making it harder to port as there may be minimal documentation on it. UPDATE: Since this post, I have discovered a project called YumenikkiOnline (yno), which has a OneShot port based on the first version of OneShot developed in RPGMaker. Hello again! Recently, I installed Peta Sittek's "Dark Mode Everywhere" extension , but couldn't help but notice that all it does is invert everything, not just the backgroud. Allow me to explain what I mean by this: When you turn this extension on, it runs some code on the site to invert most of the elements, but that first sentence is exactly where the issue lies. Instead of inverting just the background and SVG elements that need to be inverted, it inverts basically everything. Here's an example using Google Classroom: See how the notebook towards the right and the fact that in the corner is whte instead of black? This seems to be a big flaw with using extensions like this as they all get colors wrong. This is (of course) fixable via 2 solutions The developers of the site add native dark mode support The developers of these extensions change how their extension works This is of course with no hate to Peta Sittek; I have been using his extension since 2020 and they are really good, I just wanted to point these problems out. Unified Interaction Policies I allow you to contact me for transparency's sake. However, I do have rules on what I'd prefer to see when you contact me. Generally speaking, it boils down to these things in particular: 1. Do not contact me just to annoy me This first one I am dead serious about - I go through enough trouble in school as it is (those that follow me on my private TikTok account would know), and the negative things you need to say are not required, no matter how serious you think that they are. If you have something bad to say about me (or if you dislike me in general), keep those thoughts to yourself. 2. Do not block evade I've seen several users block evade other people's blocks, so I feel that I should add this here. If I've blocked you, it was for a reason. Like I said on the FAQ page , I don't block people for no reason. To reasonable users, blocks are not usually used, but if I do need to block someone, there is always a reason hehind it. The only exceptions to the rule is on Twitter - they recently pushed an update which allows blocked users to still see other's content, and for those contacting me on someone's behalf; Unlike many other creators, I have no issue with someone contacting me on someone elses behalf, as there may be some important information that I may need to know that I most likely don't. Contacts done on the behalf of others must only be done through my email, RalziTech@zsh.one . Once again, blocks are not final and I may go back on them. 2.5. Suggestions are fine, but make sure they stay in subject What I mean by this is that you shouldn't try suggesting me a video idea that I don't know how to properly execute and make a reality. Most video ideas are fine, but every so often I get one that I just cannot execute properly. A good example is suggesting me a sort of "i-win" style of content. It's been proven that I cannot execute this content type properly, so don't suggest it. Other suggestions should go through fine though!
